Hi, I’m Mark Verhulst, and I’m a farmer. My family and I proudly run a small, community-focused microgreen farm here in the heart of Sidney, BC, on Vancouver Island. Now in our second year, we’re dedicated to growing fresh, high-quality microgreens that bring both flavor and nutrition to local kitchens and restaurants.
Our journey began with a love for sustainable agriculture and a commitment to serving our local community. Even though we’re a newer venture, we’ve worked hard to create a thriving farm known for its exceptional quality and the vibrant flavors of our greens. Each of our microgreens is carefully cultivated to ensure peak nutrient density and harvested at the perfect time for maximum freshness.
We offer a wide range of microgreens, from peppery arugula to earthy sunflower shoots, each one adding a burst of flavor and color to any dish. Alongside supplying local grocers and farmer’s markets, we connect with the community through workshops, teaching others how to grow microgreens at home and sharing tips on how these tiny greens can boost a meal’s nutrition.
Sustainability is at the heart of our farm. By focusing on microgreens, which require minimal water and space, we’re able to grow in an eco-friendly way while delivering highly nutritious food to our neighbors. Our method reflects how small-scale farming can play an important role in sustainable food production on Vancouver Island.
In just two years, our family farm has become a valued part of Sidney’s local food scene, offering island residents a fresh, nutrient-dense option for their meals. We’re excited to keep growing and sharing the benefits of microgreens with our community.
